Traeger Texas Elite 34 Pellet Grill Review

The Traeger Texas Elite 34 is an excellent pellet grill that can transform any backyard party into a professional tasting BBQ Pit. Traeger was the maker of the original pellet grill and is still a trusted name in pellet grills. Plenty of time in the market has given Traeger the opportunity to develop a wide range of pellet grills at a good price range.

The Elite 34 is mid-range among Traeger’s pellet grills at just under $900. This is a sturdy grill that is built to last for the long term. Rugged steel construction and a durable powder coat finish will make this grill get the job done and look good doing it for years to come.

This is a good size grill, giving you 646 square inches of grilling area. This much space is enough to accommodate 24 burgers at a time, or 9 racks of ribs or 6 chickens, for all of the food that you will need at your party. Sturdy Easy Glide Wheels make it easy for you to transport this Traeger around your property or campsite while locking casters make sure that the grill is safely locked in place when it is time to get cooking.

This versatile Texas Elite 34 will allow you to smoke meats for hours to fall off bone perfection or rapidly blacken or sear meats to lock in juices while giving the blackened taste a delicious smoky flavor. You can even bake or braise with this pellet grill for homemade pizzas that have an authentic wood-oven taste.

An integrated Digital Elite controller makes changing the temperature of your grill as easy as turning a dial. This controller keeps temperatures within 20 degrees of your set temperature. In general, this is an acceptable range for smoking and barbecuing and your searing temperatures will be hot enough to get an effective sear on your meats. It is a very good idea to have a secondary thermometer to check the ambient temperature within the grill as well as meat probes to measure the temperature of your meat.

A smart thermometer can communicate to you via your smart device when temperatures goes outside of a set range or when meat is done so that you can have more control over the temperature of your food while you cook. A digital meat thermometer can also be a great tool to let you know when the pellet grill has stabilized its temperature and is ready for food to go on.

The Traeger Texas Elite 34 offers consistent results that give you better taste than charcoal while being safer than other types of grill. This is one of the most versatile Pellet grills you are going to find, and you can feel good knowing that you are burning a replenishable resource in the wood pellets which are made as a byproduct of hardwood processing.

These pellets have no ingredients besides hardwood sawdust and vegetable oil as a lubricant so you won’t have to feel concerned about what you are burning and putting into your food. You can enjoy all of the flavor of cooking over an old fashioned wood burning stove or fire with the convenience of a set-it-and-forget-it design.

An electronic auto start makes this Traeger incredibly easy to get going, without having to worry about charcoal chimneys or matches. Traeger coats its grill grates with an easy to clean porcelain nonstick surface that will make clean-up a breeze even after a very saucy rack of ribs. You will find yourself replacing your typical appliances for all kinds of meals in favor of the elite 34.

This versatile grill/smoker will allow you to produce an incredible range of food and makes it easy for you to do it. It heats up quickly and is easy to clean and maintain so you will use it when you may not have wanted to bother with firing up charcoal. This allows you to have all the delicious taste of wood smoke flavor with the easy turn it on and get cooking convenience of propane.

Traeger Texas Elite 34 vs Pro Series 34

It is important to keep in mind that for $100 more you can get Traeger’s Pro Series 34. The pro is different in a few important ways. A sea horse type build makes the Pro more stable both when grilling and when wheeling into position. Outward facing legs are sturdier and make this grill less top-heavy so the design is safer than the Elite.

Perhaps most importantly, the Pro series 34 has a more sensitive thermometer and temperature control, able to keep temperatures to within 15 degrees of your set temperature, making this the most accurate Traeger so far. Two meat temperature probes are included so that you can always know the temperature of your meat. Overall, for $100 in additional price you receive a more stable and more accurate grill in the Pro Series 34.
