A thermal imaging camera shows temperature differences across a whole scene instead of a single spot, which makes it far faster than a spot thermometer for finding hot electrical connections, HVAC problems or building insulation gaps. Fluke’s Ti400-series cameras are rugged professional tools for facility maintenance, building diagnostics, HVAC and electrical work. Below are six models and how their listed specifications differ.

The cameras
1. Fluke Ti480 PRO Infrared Camera
The Ti480 PRO is the top of this group for detail. Its SuperResolution mode captures multiple images and combines them into a 1280 x 960 image, making small temperature differences easier to see. Interchangeable smart lenses, which Fluke says need no separate calibration, let you go from tiny targets to large scenes.
Listed specifications
- 1280 x 960 image with SuperResolution
- Range -10°C to +1000°C (14°F to 1832°F)
- Smart lenses: 2x and 4x telephoto, macro and wide-angle compatible
Pros
- Highest image resolution in this list
- Interchangeable lenses for small and large targets
Cons
- Narrower upper range than the Ti450 PRO and Ti450
- Extra lenses are separate purchases
2. Fluke Ti450 PRO Infrared Camera
The Ti450 PRO has the widest temperature range here, up to 1500°C. MultiSharp Focus and LaserSharp Auto Focus help produce a clear image, and the laser distance meter calculates the distance to your target for precise focus.
Listed specifications
- 640 x 480 (307,200 pixel) image with SuperResolution
- Infrared resolution: 76,800 pixels
- MultiSharp Focus and LaserSharp Auto Focus
- Laser distance meter
- Range -10°C to +1500°C (14°F to 2732°F)
Pros
- Widest temperature range in this list
- Laser-assisted autofocus and distance meter
Cons
- Lower resolution than the Ti480 models
3. Fluke Ti480 Infrared Camera
The Ti480 delivers the same 1280 x 960 SuperResolution image as the PRO, with MultiSharp and LaserSharp Auto Focus working with the laser distance meter. It adds 2x and 4x digital zoom and works with pre-calibrated lenses.
Listed specifications
- 1280 x 960 image with SuperResolution
- MultiSharp and LaserSharp Auto Focus; laser distance meter
- 2x and 4x digital zoom
- Pre-calibrated lenses: 2x telephoto, 4x telephoto, wide angle, 25 micron macro
- Range -20°C to +800°C (-4°F to 1472°F)
Pros
- High resolution with laser-assisted focus
- Broad lens options, including macro
Cons
- Lowest maximum temperature in this list (800°C)
4. Fluke Ti450 SF6 Gas Detector
The Ti450 SF6 is a specialist tool: alongside standard thermal imaging, it has a gas mode built to detect sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) leaks. It detects SF6 only, so it’s for crews that work with SF6-insulated equipment rather than general gas detection.
Listed specifications
- Gas mode: 320 x 240 (76,800 pixels) with SuperResolution
- Infrared mode: 640 x 480 (307,200 pixels) with SuperResolution
- Range -20°C to +1200°C (-4°F to 2192°F)
- Minimum focus distance 15 cm (about 6 in)
- SF6-only gas detection
Pros
- Combines thermal imaging with SF6 leak detection
- Close focus down to about 6 inches
Cons
- Detects SF6 gas only
- Specialized; more than most general users need
5. Fluke Ti450 Infrared Camera
The Ti450 offers a 640 x 480 SuperResolution image with MultiSharp and LaserSharp Auto Focus. Its laser distance meter calculates and displays the distance to your target so images stay in focus.
Listed specifications
- 640 x 480 image with SuperResolution
- MultiSharp and LaserSharp Auto Focus
- Laser distance meter with on-screen distance
- Range -20°C to +1200°C (-4°F to 2192°F)
Pros
- Wide temperature range
- On-screen distance to target
Cons
- Lower resolution than the Ti480 models
6. Fluke Ti400 Infrared Camera
The Ti400 is the entry point to this series. It has LaserSharp Auto Focus and IR-Fusion technology with AutoBlend mode for picture-in-picture views that combine visible and infrared images.
Listed specifications
- 320 x 240 (76,800 pixels) resolution
- Minimum focus distance 15 cm (about 6 in)
