Editorial Policy
How we research, write, check and update our content.
This policy explains how Thermometer Guru researches, writes, checks and updates its content.
Our principles
- Accuracy over speed. We would rather publish fewer, carefully checked articles than many thin ones.
- Show our sources. Safety figures and product specifications link to where they came from.
- Be honest about what we know. We clearly separate manufacturer claims, information from independent sources, and anything we have tried ourselves.
- Independence. Brands cannot pay for coverage, placement or a favourable opinion.
How articles are researched
- Official guidance first. For food safety we use USDA, FoodSafety.gov and FDA guidance. For body temperature and fever we use guidance from bodies such as the American Academy of Pediatrics.
- Manufacturer documentation. Product specifications, such as range, stated accuracy, response time, water resistance and battery, come from the manufacturer’s own product page or manual, and we record the date we checked them.
- Plain-English explanation. We explain what a specification means in practice and when it matters.
What we do not do
- We do not claim to have tested, calibrated or field-tested a product unless that testing actually happened, and we would describe how it was done.
- We do not publish invented star ratings, review counts, prices or awards.
- We do not present the site as a healthcare provider, and medical content is not a substitute for professional advice.
Updates and corrections
We update articles when official guidance or product specifications change. Where an update is significant, the article shows an “Updated” date. If you spot an error, please contact us. We review every correction request and fix confirmed errors promptly.
Affiliate links
Some articles contain Amazon affiliate links. Commissions never decide which products we mention or what we say about them. See our affiliate disclosure and review methodology.
